Writing
We use the 5-step writing process: pre-write (brainstorming), rough draft, revise, edit, and publish. Third graders are expected to answer questions in complete sentences. They will learn about the types of sentences, how to write a paragraph, and how to write a research report.
Social Studies
We use two text books: Map Champ, Nystrom, and Share Our World, Houghton Mifflin.
Students build an understanding of the world through the study of maps and communities. Vocabulary acquisition and study skills are
also a vital part of the program.
